Ahhh, Ashland; home of the famous Shakespeare Festival. I just love this place: the art galleries, shopping, dining; and let's not forget all the wineries in the area!I had a view of Mt St Helen while flying to the Medford airport.
I had my morning coffee by this pond. It was so peaceful sitting here watching the fish and a mother duck with her cute little ducklings.... I had a wonderful dinner of duck a la orange with a creme brulee for dessert at the Chateaulin Restaurant. http://www.chateaulin.com/
Spending a few days shopping, dining, and wine tasting with good friends was just what I needed. I have so many things on my plate this summer, that I almost cancelled, but soooo glad I didn't!
Here I am standing at the Troon Vineyard entrance.
I was there. I was a vendor. It was my first......
my very first time to have my very own "store" at a farmers market. The weather forecast for opening day was ominous. I was picturing myself putting up my tent in the pouring down Seattle rain....ugh!! Yes, it did rain; but not until 30 minutes before closing. Thank goodness for that! Thank goodness for the power of prayer!
Here's my little store (wish I could have had a space heater...burrr)
This is my friend Margaret and her daughter Kindra (trying to keep her hands warm with her Maui sweatshirt). Kindra brought her pretty handmade earrings & pendants. I bought my 2nd pair of earrings from her that day...LOVE them! Take a look at Margaret's art glass on the web http://www.classonglass.biz/beautiful!!
Ahhhh....the flowers! I'm so glad all the vendors that were there, were brave enough to come out despite the weather conditions.....and a BIG THANK YOU for all you shoppers that came to support the Maple Valley Farmers Market!
I've added a new little gem to my inventory......... isn't she cute? (well, I think she looks like a "she").....She'll hold your phone/iPod in style. There's even a little pocket in front to hold the earbuds............
This is the back.....
This is what she looks like with a matching tote..............
I'll be showing a few of these at the Maple Valley Farmer's Market on June 19th! Hope you can visit me there!....Think SUN!
This last Saturday, Kaylyne & I decided to check out the See Kai Run warehouse sale in Woodinville. The doors opened at 10am, and we got there at 9:30. We knew we were in for a wait when we saw the "line" signs.............yup there was definitely a line.
However, when we got in, the prices were great. We now know why there was a 10 pair/per person limit..........we got several pair of shoes and was happy to see that there were bins full of Baby Legs for only a few dollars a pair!http://www.babylegs.com/
By the time we paid for our goodies, it was time for lunch............So on such a great sunny day what better place to grab some lunch while in Woodinville; then the Redhook Ale Brewery?
The sun felt sooooo good after what seems, like WEEKS of rain!!! Here's Kaylyne showing her "farmer's tan" after just a few minutes of sitting outside. What a beautiful day! The menu is really great, and the wine and beer even better! I ordered spinach salad topped with perfectly cooked beef steak. It was sprinkled with walnuts, and crumbles of feta...yummmmm!!
While driving back into Redmond, we drove by the Redmond Farmers Market.
I'm very excited! I've applied to the Maple Valley Farmers Market, and was accepted!
I'll get to join the many talented artist that sell their products.
If you remember, last year I helped out for one day at the Maple Valley Arts Council booth. While there, I caught the "market bug". I knew I'd like to have my own booth along with the rest of the vendors.
The people that visit the market are so friendly, and makes for a really fun day!
Remember when I told you I was busy with new designs? Well, here's one....
Its a great little bag to carry notebooks, small lap tops. Perfect for the new iPad.
Here it is in the making.........there's a large divided pocket inside for pens, cell phone............. Zipper closure at the top, and another in the front....... I put detachable, swivel hooks on the adjustable strap. The strap is long enough to wear across the body. I love the bright colorful orange and red colors of this canvas fabric! Here's another one. I'm in the process of adding the front zipper pocket.
I use a pre-quilted cotton fabric for the interior lining. I find that it's best for structure and padding for your electronics...
I love how these turned out. I plan on making larger ones for the larger laptops.
